The RepowerEU Mid-Term Matching Round
In response to the market’s increasing demand for stability and predictability in gas demand and supply, we introduced the Mid-Term Product on behalf of the European Commission. The new approach allowed buyers to submit their demand for seasonal six-month periods over a five-year horizon (until 2029).
The results were impressive: 17 suppliers submitted offers totaling 97.4 billion cubic meters of gas, nearly tripling the anticipated demand and reaching almost 34 billion cubic meters.
Building on this success, we are excited to announce the next Mid-Term Matching Round on AggregateEU, scheduled for October. This upcoming round will reinforce the Commission’s continued commitment to diversification in line with RePowerEU and will once again allow buyers to express their demand over a five-year period.
It will further improve the stability and predictability of supplies for European companies and support the phase out of the remaining Russian natural gas supply to the EU.
Support for South-East and Central Eastern Europe
This initiative will particularly benefit companies in EU Member States in South-East and Central Eastern Europe, where diversification options are most needed.
